So on my walk from my apartment to my school I often get to see a lady walking her dog. We usually have a bit of small talk and her dog gives me a good sniff. Every time I'd gone to pet Hana-chan she'd always gotten a bit startled and backed off. Well this Wednesday she got comfortable enough to let me pet her ^_^. Then today when I was walking to school I heard dog tags jingling and turned around to see Hana-chan trying to run pulling her mom to come see me ^_^. So at the elementary school I go to it can be pretty crazy. I get a schedule, but about the only thing that stays the same are the days a visit lol. Things are always getting moved around and classes changed. Sometimes I'll even be sitting in the teachers room getting ready for another class thinking I have the period off to prepare and kids will come into the teachers room and say "We're here to get Miss Martha for English Class." At which point I hurriedly grab some flash cards a ball and anything fun I can get my hands on. I'm technically and Assistant English teacher, but at the Elementary school I'm really the Head Teacher, and sometimes I get assistance from the Homeroom teacher (who often can't speak much more English than "I'mu fuian sankyu. Ando yuu?"). It's ok though cuz even if I don't have a class prepared I just get them to play games. At elementary schools I'm pretty much there to get them to have fun with English and not be scared of it so we can actually get to teaching them once they get to junior high.
Anyway, I had thought the Elementary had thrown just about everything they could at me, but on Friday they threw me a curve ball. So the kids came to get me for lunch. We walk up to the classroom and when we get there there's a bunch of TV Equipment and Crew. I wasn't the focus or anything, but they still wanted to talk with me and stuff. I got briefly interviewed and there'll be a spot on the Iruma cable news. Since I live in Tokorozawa I don't get the station, but I'm sure I'll hear all about it from all of my teachers XD. I can't even remember what I talked about as my brain was still in "Hey look it's a camera" mode XD. But I got my picture up on the FM Chappy Personality's Blog. You'd almost think I'm important XD. I think the funniest part was how they video taped the kids showing off their signatures that they got from me lol. I hate to tell you kids, but I'm not a celebrity lol.Current Mood:  huh? |
